Latta Elementary School is proud to honor the brave men and women who have served our country. Our students and staff have created a special Veterans' Day display to show our appreciation and respect for all who have served.
We invite our families and community members to stop by and view the display located outside the front of LES. Take a moment to reflect, celebrate our heroes, and snap a few photos to share your gratitude. Our fourth grade students will be performing for ALL veterans on Veterans' Day, Tuesday, November 11 at 9:30. We invite the entire community to come and watch our 4th graders honor our veterans in song!

Latta Elementary School’s Fall Festival was a huge success! Thank you to all our amazing students, families, staff, and community volunteers who came out to enjoy the fun. From the games to the delicious supper and exciting raffle, every moment was filled with laughter, smiles, and school spirit.
Events like these remind us how special our Latta community truly is — when we come together, we make memories that last all year long. A big thank you to everyone who helped plan, donate, and participate. We can’t wait to do it again next year!

What an amazing Red Ribbon Week at Latta Elementary!

Hooray for the 45th day of school! We appreciate everyone’s efforts in making attendance a priority for your student(s)! LES had 490 students with “awesome attendance” in September, and each of them earned a prize of their choice! We want to see that number continue to rise! School is not the same without your student!
We also celebrated 40 staff members with perfect attendance! Congrats to our 4 lucky gift card winners!
Friendly Attendance Reminders: a student is considered truant after 3 consecutive or 5 total unexcused absences, an excuse is required immediately upon a student’s return to school, and five parent note excuses are allowed per school year

Dear Viking families, Thank you for your cooperation as we tried to make preparations in the event that a tropical disturbance caused issues for our area this week. Thankfully, Imelda turned out to sea and we have not been affected. Students do not need to complete any eLearning assignments. Latta Elementary School's 4th and 5th grade students are campaigning for positions on the LES Student Council. Candidates made posters to kick off their campaign. The 4th and 5th grade student body will take part in an election held on September 18th to vote for Student Council President, Vice President and class representatives!

Students from Mrs. Kirk's Lower Elementary class tried a variety of foods from Australia this week. After voting for their favorite item, the students used the data to create bar graphs. The class's favorite food was kangaroo jerky!

We are so excited to announce that LES will have a student council this year! Mrs. Angela Luffman and Mrs. Sarah Duprel will be the teacher sponsors for this group of students. To be on student council, students must be in 4th or 5th grade. Students interested will go through an election process. The elected students will represent all grades in our school. There will be an interest meeting on Wednesday, August 27 at 7:30 a.m. in the science lab. We can't wait to see what this group will do this year!
